The Continental Trail King was originally offered under the name “Conti Rubber Queen”. Today, Continental summarizes the “King” series for various fields of application under one group name. The ContiTrail King is an insider tip among the All-Mountain and Enduro riders. Its grip level allows keeping a clean line even at high speeds. The lamellar profile provides a defined point for the boundary area and great traction when braking. The very low rolling resistance allows very high and still manageable speeds up to the limit range.

BlackChili Compound
This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in Continental German factory has revolutionized bicycle tyres. The resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This “Elevated level”, as it was previously known, was given the name “BlackChili”. The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a unique performance, from downhill MTB tyres to the time trial tyres of the ProTour, they are second to none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26% and provides 30% more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tyres with BlackChili Compound also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant ride from the first to the last kilometer.Â
Apex stabilizes the tire in curves and has been used successfully in car tires. A technology which is also useful for large-volume bicycle tires.Â
The sidewall of freeride and downhill tires is subjected to extraordinarily high loads. A rubber profile between the carcass layers ensures stability. The Apex sits on the tire core and reinforces the sides of the tire.Â
The tire does not impact on the rim during rough rides over rocky ground. The tire stays upright better when riding around bends. It does not bend over the sides of the rim when subjected to transverse loads, and always stays true to the course.
